Get to Know the Gargoyles at Valencia's Silk Exchange
Valencia's La Lotja de la Seda, or silk exchange, is a castle-like structure in the middle of the city's old town. A UNESCO World Heritage site, it's considered one of the best examples of Gothic-era civil architecture in Europe.
Dramatically domed ceilings, elegant columns and mosaiced floors in its Sala de Contratación salute Valencia's wealth and power during the era when the structure was built (1482-1548).
Make sure to get close-up shots of the gargoyles, sculptures, and stone carvings adorning the building.
