Shopping for good
Heartist is a charming shop tucked between the Gyeongbokgung Palace and the Bukchon Hanok Village. From the street, you can see a 6-story building with people hanging out on the balconies crawled with plants. Once inside, you can visit the basement gallery or shop for stationery, housewares, and clothes from contemporary Korean makers and designers. Heartist is supported by its community in a few fascinating ways. The shop is partly run by volunteers and some products sold at the shop are donated by local businesses. Any profits made are then donated to local organizations. It’s tough not to walk out of Heartist without a purchase, because there are many well-designed things to choose from and your purchase will directly support the community.
