This family-run restaurant serves up some of the best conch fritters in the Caribbean. The relaxed vibe and plastic chairs make for an unusual place for a romantic dinner, but just add a sunset and a perfectly prepared lobster, and Cow Wreck becomes the romantic setting for any BVI beach date. Also, don’t miss the chance to try their banana daiquiri!

Lonely Hammock Seeks Afternoon Companion
Cow Wreck Beach Bar on Anegada has, in my book, replaced Jost Van Dyke’s Soggy Dollar Bar as the most beautiful and remote destination in the British Virgin Islands. This beckoning hammock can be found alongside the bar. Though the few visitors that arrive tend to do so in private boats, the budget-conscious adventurer can reach Anegada via ferry from Tortola and Virgin Gorda. Only requirement? 7 AM departure and 5 PM return.
Cow Wreck Beach bliss
I stayed on Anegada for a few nights in 2012 and Cow Wreck beach was a highlight. Beautiful soft white sand, endless horizon, and the only sound is the waves. Anegada is worth the effort of getting there.
Day Trip To Anegada
If you happen to travel to St. Thomas or St. John and your stay includes the first Sunday of the month you can visit Anegada by ferry. 7:30 am departure from Red Hook, St, Thomas over to St. John to pick up more passengers in Cruz Bay, then clear customs on Tortola and on to Anegada. You will have about 6 hours to relax and enjoy the island. Take a taxi or rent a scooter; there is essentially one road so there is no getting lost! Cow Wreck is fabulous, but Loblolly has it’s perks, too. Open a tab and swim and snorkel and sun the day away. Great vibe, great food, great fun. Well worth the early rise and the fare. They recommend reservations for the ferry, but if you show up early enough we have never had a problem.
