We stopped at Volpetti to pick up a few items for a picnic on Aventine Hill in the Garden of Oranges. Problem is, you can’t just pick up a few things here. Everything is wonderful. The food combined with the view from the Aventine makes for a great way to pass a couple hours.

You are a "imbrogliare" if you do not stop here
This wonderful store was/is a must every time I go to Rome. In one of the best neighborhoods Testaccio that still holds a large “native rome” feel (for how long who knows). This store is a gem, with cheese and meat worth bringing home (air sealed of course) and balsamic or olive oil to die for. Although I would suggest not worrying about TAKING HOME as much as you can... instead, buy some cheese and meat and eat it IN ROME. The staff is family to whomever is willing to try their food, which is everyone. So grab some wine down the street, a perfect picnic from Volpetti and hit the Testaccio Market on the way to pick up fresh veggies, bread, and some amazing conversation. Giuseppe Verdi was onto something when he said “You may have the universe if I may have Italy.”
