Understanding the Quest for FreedomMany slaves crossed the Ohio River with the Underground Railroad in hopes of finding safety in the free state of Ohio, and Cincinnati's Freedom Center stands as a tribute to those who fought for freedom. Documenting the full scope of the history of American slavery and the quest for freedom is a big job, and the museum makes use of artifacts, biographies, and multimedia to illustrate a dark time in U.S. history. It also incorporates stories of modern civil rights movements, human traffickers, and even a piece of the Berlin Wall to remind visitors that the struggle against "unfreedoms" is still being fought.
