In their reconquest of Spain
, the monarchs Ferdinand and Isabella successfully captured Gibralfaro Castle in a three-month siege. Surrounded by pine forest, the 10th-century fortress looks like something right out of a Hollywood movie. Its ramparts are walkable, with views that overlook the port, the city’s famous bullfighting arena and the entire city of Málaga. The small military museum devoted to soldiering life was once a church and later the gunpowder storage room.
