La Fondation Claude Monet
It’s a quick train ride from Paris to Vernon and the 19th century home of Impressionist artist Claude Monet. Once at the station, most visitors hop on the bus waiting to take them to Giverny, but across the street there is a bike rental shop making it easy to turn the visit into a day in the country. If it is a Wednesday or Saturday, stop at the farmer’s market in the quaint Normand town to organise a picnic before heading off on the bucolic ride along the Seine. The protected bike path leads to the pastel tinted home and gardens that inspired several masterpieces.
