A Passage to India Adds Spice to Coconut Grove

From October 3 to November 3rd, the popular Bizcaya restaurant at The Ritz-Carlton Coconut Grove will be transformed into an authentic Indian pop-up restaurant every Thursday through Sunday from 6 to 10 p.m. Executive chef Ramesh Kaduru’s cuisine is inspired by the flavors and culture of his hometown of Chennai. As you make your way from the large tinted lamps covered in bright pastels and jeweled coins, you’ll hear the sounds of traditional Bollywood music, with video projection of modern-day Indian entertainment. The meal begins with an amuse of lassi shooters, a creamy yogurt shot with a sweet after taste of mango. Steaming plates of saffron basmati rice are topped with a potato stew with chick peas, potato and cheese dumplings with cashew fondue and the very flavorful tandoori chicken with butter masala. Although each dish has its own defining flavor, sometimes it’s best to mix them. Other menu highlights include the hyderabadi vegetable biryani and the masala shrimp. For dessert, choose the warm dumplings with rose water syrup and vanilla ice cream.
