Pointe-a-Pitre Markets
On the weekend, market days in Pointe-a-Pître are akin to an outdoor celebration. It’s about Gwo-Ka drumming on the street leading to the market–the western side of Rue Frébault–where you stop and take in the African rhythms alongside local and tourist passersby. It’s about shopping the multitude of attractive displays and stalls brimming with spice-filled bags at the spice market –sold by the pound–arts and crafts, madras textiles, and moving on to fruits and vegetables at Marche de la Darse on the waterfront. Take a break at a nearby café afterwards, and relax some more to the sound of Ka drums.
