It may seem hard to believe, given the geography and frequently fickle weather of Patagonia, but farming has long been an important way of life for many southern Chileans. Visitors can get a taste of the local version by stopping in at Fitz Roy Farm, a working sheep farm on an island in the Strait of Magellan that can be reached only by ferry. Here, you’ll watch sheep being rounded up by dogs, see a live shearing demonstration and enjoy a Magellan lamb barbecue.
