A Steep Hike with Breathtaking Views
From the small campus of St. John's College, the Atalaya Mountain Trail starts simply and then rises to a steep and challenging 7-mile hike (round-trip). Perched at the top, looking down at the Ponderosa pine trees, you're rewarded with a rest at 2,000 feet above Santa Fe at 9,121 feet, and coupled with the magical skies, you will always be guaranteed stellar, breathtaking views of the expansive historic city below. To take off mileage, commence your hike at the Ponderosa Ridge trailhead.
