A Day in Cape Winelands
No trip to the Western Cape is complete without a stop in the Cape Winelands. It's a big region, so it's best to plan in advance and tackle one town at a time. Choose from a range of vineyard styles, from casual working farms, to high-end wine estates. Popular varietals to try include sauvignon blanc and chenin blanc. Visit at the end of January through April to partake in the region's wine harvest festivals.

Delicious Lunch in South Africa's Wine Country

Large arrow left

Just outside of Cape Town, there are several wine-producing areas set among beautiful mountains and greenery. In Franschhoek we stopped to eat at Le Petit Ferme (the photo is from the terrace in front of the restaurant). We sampled the Snoek pâté with a dry and refreshing rosé. I had the pork belly while my partner had the rare kudu. The wine, food, service, and views were all spectacular and very reasonable for what you get. And did I mention the views?
