Located in the 1936 Territory of Alaska Talkeetna School building, the Talkeetna Historical Society’s museum focuses on the area and its people, from Native Alaskans to those who came for the gold rush, among others. Aside from stories and artifacts, you’ll find information about Talkeetna’s progress over the decades, photos and newspaper clippings as well as a room-size model of Denali, or Mount McKinley, that is sometimes used by climbers in preparation for an ascent. The Talkeetna Historical Society also publishes a walking-tour map of town, available at the museum.
