Stream of Fire

98050 Stromboli ME, Italy

A black gash slices the flank of Stromboli, running from the volcano’s active crater to the edge of the sea. The Stream of Fire (Sciara del Fuoco in Italian) marks the path of the lava flows that occur during Stromboli’s eruptions. Those fortunate enough to witness a flow, especially at night, will see an impressive glowing river of molten rock, steaming and hissing as it hits the water.
