Njegoš Mausoleum

Unnamed Road

Perched on a mountaintop in nearby Lovćen National Park is one of Montenegro’s most sacred places: the mausoleum of Petar II Petrović Njegoš. Climb the 461 steps up to the entrance of the tomb of the country’s greatest poet, thinker and leader. Once you’ve explored the monumental edifice, continue to the circular platform for the stunning panorama of the Montenegrin wilderness—the same view that inspired George Bernard Shaw to wonder whether “this was paradise or the moon.”
