Every year for a week in August, Visby returns to 1361 in the Middle Ages as its cobblestoned streets are filled with jesters, beggars, peasants, and other characters dressed up in medieval attire in what is known as “Medeltidsveckan” (Medieval Week). The week wraps up with entertainment, events, lectures, and staged theatres that offer up slices of Visby’s rich history.
