Mesmerizing Dance
Tahitian dance is known the world over for the passion and energy its dancers manage to evoke. In Tahitian the word for dance is "tamure" and whether the particular dance is slow and graceful or fast and rhythmic movement, each is mesmerizing.

Dancing is kind of a national pastime in Tahiti, and although there are many dance schools, they are usually fully booked and don't take drop-ins. Still ask around when you arrive and see if you can get into a class somewhere.

If you'd rather just attend a traditional Polynesian dance performance, and are not in town during July's weeklong Heiva I Tahiti dance festival, then pay a visit to the Tiare Restaurant at The InterContinetal Tahiti Resort. It offers different Tahitian dance theme nights featuring a scrumptious buffet. The also do an excellent Tahitian Sunday brunch.
