In the center of the stylish Ponsonby Central, Jimmy the Fish is a modest affair. Order at the counter and sit on one of the bar stools. The oysters—raw or fried—plus smoked fish cakes and the spaghetti alle vongole made a perfect meal for two. I would return to New Zealand just to try his mussel chowder.
