Lourdes Grotto
A New World counterpart to the famous French shrine to Our Lady of Lourdes, where it is said that the apparition appeared, this duo of stone caverns is reflective site for Marian believers. Nonbelievers will also marvel at the naturally-formed twin grottos that are positioned across the road from each other. One houses an oversize statue of the Virgin Mary. Clocking in at more than 1,500 pounds, the icon was placed here in 1958 by Priest Erkamp and his parishioners. Each year on The Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, February 11, a pilgrimage is made to the site via St. Therisita Church in San Nicolas.
