Oppede-le-Vieux is a hidden treasure in Provence that so many visitors miss and I'd encourage you to put it (and a stop at this enchanting little cafe) on your must-see list.
Due to the design of this hilltop town, you'll have to park in a communal parking lot and then walk up, up, up the cobblestone walkways to arrive at this small town square (pictured). Have a coffee, glass of a favorite local wine and a light lunch at this exceptional cafe, before heading on up through the ramparts of the village.
The town is made up of medieval and Renaissance homes, and as you keep walking up through the old ramparts, you'll find remains of old castles, Saint-Laurent and St. Antonin Chapels, and views that will have you in love with the Luberon.
The highlight of all that walking uphill? The church Notre-Dame de Dolidon (or Notre-Dame d'Alidon) at the very top of the old village. Simply beautiful.
