Fo Guang Shan Buddha Museum

No. 1號, Tongling Road, Dashu District, Kaohsiung City, Taiwan 84049

Opened in 2011, the Fo Guang Shan Buddha Museum (formerly the Buddha Memorial Center) operates on various levels—it’s a religious monastery but also an educational and cultural center for locals and visitors. The vast complex not only hosts one of three sacred tooth relics of Sakyamuni Buddha, but also the Fo Guang Big Buddha, the tallest sitting bronze Buddha in the world. Behind the striking Front Hall, visitors find the eight pagodas that represent the Noble Eightfold Path, as well as striking rows of golden Buddha statues that lead to the Main Hall. There are also a number of teahouses on the grounds and a retail shop.
