Coquimbo’s mosque doesn’t date back to the port’s early days as a maritime crossroads—in fact, it was built between 2004 and 2006—but that makes it no less interesting. A replica of a mosque in Marrakech, the construction was reportedly sponsored by the king of Morocco. The mosque sits high atop a hill and offers panoramic city views. An on-site cultural center features a library with important works about Islam and Arabic cultures.
