Insadong Chatjip Teahouse
Insadong Chatjip is one of the city’s oldest tea houses and everything that it serves – from drinks to desserts – is homemade. Korean tea is a little different than the traditional leaf ones of China and Japan. Many are infused with herbs, spices, or fruits like quince and plums that are believed to have medicinal properties. Don’t be surprised if some taste sugary sweet, it’s common to combine heaps of honey or syrup to the brews. Stick to buckwheat or Ujeon green teas for a more delicate flavor. The two-level teahouse has a lovely, open-air courtyard where drinks can be sipped with cookies or rice cakes.
