International Street (Kokusai Dori)

Kokusai Dori (International Street) is one of the buzziest areas to explore in the city. Some 1.6 kilometers (one mile) long, it’s lined with myriad retail and commercial outlets, from cafés and restaurants to bars, shops and offices. Popular with locals, visitors and expats, you can find mainstream international spots like Starbucks but also tiny niche eateries and shops specializing in Okinawan food or crafts, as well as occasional street performers. Sunday afternoons here are particularly atmospheric.
