The Kaiser's Summer Villa
The spa town of Bad Ischl has been associated with the Habsburgs for over 700 years and still remains with the family. Emperor Franz Josef spent 60 summers here. This Biedermeier palace was given to him by his mother as a gift to celebrate his wedding with his Bavarian cousin, Elizabeth, best known as "Sisi".
It was here that the emperor signed the declaration of war against Serbia, setting off World War I.
