It’s only about 20 miles from Boston to Concord—it just seems longer if you’re under sniper fire the whole way. Minute Man National Historic Park in Lexington and Concord, Massachusetts, tells the story of Paul Revere’s famous midnight ride and “the shot heard round the world"—the opening battle of the Revolutionary War. After marching out from their Boston base, the Redcoats clashed with armed patriot militias at Lexington Green, Concord Bridge, and everywhere along the aptly named Battle Road, all part of the national park. Visitors can hike or bike for five miles along the path of the Battle Road; reward yourself with a draft at the Valley Forge Tavern in Concord’s Colonial Inn, which has stood on Monument Square since 1716.
