Island Acres

38339 US-50, Gunnison, CO 81230, USA

“Charming and Delightful” indeed! At first glance, Island Acres is just another roadside motel, but it actually has some unique offerings at very reasonable rates. For one, you can get a clean, well-equipped room with a kitchenette in a quiet, pleasant setting on the Gunnison River, on the western edge of Gunnison, Colorado. The motel is driving distance from a number of outdoor activities and attractions (including Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, as well as access to 750 miles of single track mountain biking), making this motel popular as a base camp for families coming to adventure in the area. Island Acres also has history--an old-school family-run travel option with buildings that make you feel like you’re staying in your own little log cabin. There are also porch swings and vintage bouncy ponies in the big, shaded yard, where our kids played for hours. Rooms vary in size and amenities, $59–108.
