Cementerio la Reina

Calle 7, Cienfuegos, Cuba

One of two historic cemeteries in Cienfuegos, La Reina is the final resting place for many of the city’s former elite, in particular sugar barons and their families. Tombs and mausoleums are over-the-top in their design and decoration, even as they are crumbling from years of neglect. Guides are happy to give tours of the cemetery, pointing out the most famous crypts. The cemetery was declared a national monument in 1990.
