Daniela Castillo is a London-based writer, editor, and illustrator who specialises in travel, food, culture, and the intersection between language and identity.

Born in Guadalajara, the second-largest city in Mexico, she earned an undergraduate degree in communications and media. Her mother’s career as a travel agent sparked an early wanderlust, and after graduating, she began working as a freelance travel writer—an opportunity that allowed her to visit more than 20 countries in under two years.

In 2020, Daniela moved to Scotland to complete a master’s degree in creative writing, which gave her the chance to focus on her magical realism and creative non-fiction work. Three years later, she relocated to London to work as a full-time editor at The Pokémon Company International.

Her articles, essays, and short stories have appeared in publications like Atlas Obscura, The Culture Trip, The Scottish BPOC Writers Network Blog, and Matador Network. When she’s not writing, Daniela enjoys going to the theatre, baking in the middle of the night, and singing Spanish songs in the shower.
