The Royal Crescent

Royal Cres, Bath BA1 2LR, UK

It’s easy to see why the Royal Crescent is the image on the front of so many Bath postcards. Built as 30 terraced town houses between 1767 and 1775, the sweeping sandstone edifice is one of the most famous examples of Georgian architecture in the country. The crescent is easily accessible from town (uphill), and though many of the buildings remain private residences, it’s possible to learn more about the Georgian era at No. 1 Royal Crescent, a museum decorated and furnished in period style, or to have a memorable afternoon tea at the Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa.
