Kalmar County Museum (Läns Museum)

Skeppsbrogatan 51, 392 31 Kalmar, Sweden

Located in an impressively gargantuan building that was once the city’s steam plant, the Kalmar County Museum chronicles the history of Kalmar and its surrounding area, including the island of Öland on its eastern coast. Explore its flagship permanent exhibit, the Kronan, a warship that sank off the southern coast of Öland in 1676. The ship was discovered and salvaged in 1980 along with over 30,000 artifacts and gold coins.
