Built into the side of a mountain, Rancho de Caldera’s nine bungalows look out over the tropical valley below. To maximize the expansive view, each cabin’s front wall is glass from floor to ceiling. Watch the sunrise from bed, and in the evening, lounge on the covered deck as the sun drops behind the forested Talamanca Mountains. Electricity generated by wind, sun, and a nearby waterfall powers the off-the-grid resort. At the lodge’s Madre Tierra restaurant, chef Craig Miller crafts inventive dishes with produce and herbs grown on the property.
