True, you do have to cross a bridge (or take a water taxi) to get to West Seattle. But it's really not that far, and the reward is worth it: restaurants, boutiques, antique and thrift stores aplenty. The Alaska Junction is the center of the neighborhood's business area, or you can head down to Alki Beach to bike, stroll, and play.
