Rajasthan: India's Rainbow State
With its Golden Triangle, Pink Jaipur, Blue Jodhpur and Golden Jaiselmer, Rajasthan could be India's most flamboyant, as well as its largest state. Peppered with palatial forts and marble mosques that testify to a turbulent past, it's been the hub of Rajput power since the 6th century. Today it's a montage of brilliant saris, chaotic cities, sacred pilgrimage sites and rural villages where you can still enjoy a homestay with a local family sans Internet and other modern distractions.
