Ben Jaffe was born and raised in New Orleans’ French Quarter—his parents, Allan and Sandra Jaffe, founded Preservation Hall, dedicated to preserving, perpetuating, and protecting New Orleans Jazz. Ben is now the creative director of Preservation Hall, as well as a tuba and upright bass player in the Preservation Hall Jazz Band. When we asked him about his favorite places in New Orleans, it’s perhaps not surprising that the sounds of the city capture his attention more than anything.
