Although I have spent very little time there, New England calls to me. It seems to have the perfect combination of four seasons, fantastic seafood and lots of activities in the great outdoors, whether that be mountains, lakes or the sea. I want to do an extensive trip to explore more and these highlights are some of the things I'd like to do and see.

I have lived in Mid-Coast Maine for quite a while now, and I saw the hand painted signs for Beth's Farm Market for easily several years before I finally went there to see for myself what they might have in store. I can't believe I waited so long!...

The Maine Huts are an awesome way to spend some time in nature--but not give up a comfy bed or a hot shower. Also, the hut crew cooks for you, and the food is great.

Chances are that when you think of a lighthouse, the image that pops into your head is the iconic Portland Head Light. The tapered white tower on the end of a rocky cape buffeted by crashing waves? Yup, that’s the one. The adjacent...

We stayed at one of the lean-tos in the campground and I caught this photo while we were eating breakfast. This is as clear as it was all day. When we hiked the Traveler loop it was foggy and rainy.

After having just visited the Portland Head Lighthouse, I was on a mission to find a good lobster roll. I think I must have sifted through pages of reviews on yelp, but I finally settled on a small truck in the Fort Williams Park. What can I say,...

From the pastry chef’s freshly-baked chocolate chip cookies for the turn down service, to the signature blue and white weather card I received indicating that the next morning was going to be “38 degrees, with a slight chance of showers,” I knew...

Fall foliage in New England is nothing short of spectacular. The color change begins usually in early October, and by middle of the month the landscape is filled with vibrant shades of red, orange, and yellow. Whether it be Hwy 87 along the Hudson...

Vermont is unparalleled in its awesome splendor. The pure simplicity and beauty of the place is astounding. It's a bit like going back in time - a time when people were simpler and with purer intentions and needs. Everyone here seems to be a...

I'm usually skeptical when visiting restaurants right along the main drag of a rather touristy street. Thus is the location of Portland Lobster Co., smack in the middle of Commercial Street in downtown Portland. However, my skepticism was brushed...
