I miss you Vancouver!

The week spent in Vancouver, Canada was one of the best of my entire travel history. Vancouver has it all, ocean, mountains, rain forest, great restaurants, relaxed city life. I fell in love at first sight. I miss and hope to go back.
45 Blood Alley Square, Vancouver, BC V6B 1C7, Canada
This little hideaway in a back alley, with its communal tables and chalkboard menus, is where I go with friends when we want to share snacks. They match wines to "tasting trios" selected from their cheese and charcuterie cellar. It’s best to let...
315 Carrall St, Vancouver, BC V6A 0A7, Canada
The owners at this breakfast and lunch spot make almost everything from scratch and by hand, from grinding chickpeas for their hummus to making almond milk for the granola. They even offer vegan butter. (604) 681-5776. As told to Rhonda May. This...
370 Cambie St, Vancouver, BC V6B 1H7, Canada
Like the name says: just braised or slow-roasted meats, served on ciabatta buns. They are known for their hand-carved porchetta, but I order the daily special—that is, if I can get there before 2 p.m. The restaurant is first come, first served, so...
7501 Stanley Park Dr, Vancouver, BC V6G 1Z4, Canada
A true highlight of a visit to Vancouver is, of course, Stanley Park. A bonus is the Teahouse Restaurant at Ferguson Point. The view from the outdoor patio is stunning and the food is wonderful. I had this delicious seafood chowder that was made...
3735 Capilano Rd, North Vancouver, BC V7R 4J1, Canada
This 27-acre attraction in North Vancouver gets the heart racing with a suspension bridge that bounces 230 feet above a forested river gorge. Even more spectacular, however, is the Cliffwalk, a labyrinth of walkways along the granite flank of...
Vancouver, BC V6G 1Z4, Canada
Vancouver’s most famous urban space, the thousand-acre Stanley Park, epitomizes everything that locals here love about the outdoors, and visitors have many ways to explore the expansive grounds. Hiking trails weave around totem poles and hemlock...
Coal Harbour, Vancouver, BC, Canada
Coal Harbour is bordered by Burrard Street, West Georgia, and Pender (where Pender and Georgia pinch together toward Stanley Park). Much of Coal Harbour consists of seawall pathways and the only hustle and bustle you’ll find here is from cyclists,...
630 Hamilton St, Vancouver, BC V6B 5N6, Canada
I love the lights, the carols, the colors, and the food of Christmas. I have always wanted to take in the famed German and Austrian markets, but I have yet to make the trip. If you are on the West Coast of North America, the Vancouver German...
6400 Nancy Greene Way, North Vancouver, BC V7R 4K9, Canada
Part of the North Shore mountain range, this 4,039-foot peak offers jaw-dropping views of the city. It’s busiest in the winter, when four chairlifts service 33 ski runs, but remains popular in the summer thanks to the steep, 1.8-mile Grouse...
12240 Second Ave #210, Richmond, BC V7E 3L8, Canada
Minkes, humpbacks, and gray whales often frisk in B.C.’s wild coastal waters. The scene stealers, however, are the orcas, especially the gentle resident pods that eat fish rather than other marine mammals. These “killer whales”...
One of the reasons I love traveling to Vancouver is the city's creative use of green space; no matter how big or small, I'm always stumbling upon something interesting. Here, at the corner of Burrard and Davie streets, in the heart of downtown...
Gastown, Vancouver, BC, Canada
333 Menchion Mews, Vancouver, BC V6G 3H2, Canada
Situated on the water near Marina Square in Vancouver with views of Stanley Park and the beautiful mountains is a great spot for seafood in all styles. You'll be entertained by the seaplanes taking off as well as the wonderful dishes passing...
845 Avison Way, Vancouver, BC V6G 3E2, Canada
Presiding over Stanley Park, Canada’s largest aquarium houses more than 50,000 creatures, from penguins to sea otters to three-toed sloths. Don’t miss the star turns from the rescued Steller sea lions Izzy and Rogue, who swoop...
1669 Johnston St, Vancouver, BC V6H 3R9, Canada
The market community at the Public Market really makes Granville Island a must-visit in Vancouver. The vibrant colors of the fruits and vegetables that aren't on the East Coast really stand out, especially on farmers market days. The market goes...
900 W Georgia St, Vancouver, BC V6C 2W6, Canada
In Vancouver and Vancouver Island, British traditions are still going strong. High Tea at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver is a treat while visiting the west coast city. Built in 1937, and not to be confused with its old rival the Second Hotel...
1059 Alberni St, Vancouver, BC V6E 1A1, Canada
The name is Thierry Chocolaterie Patisserie Cafe, but they don't just serve desserts here. I went because I heard about their macarons and pastries from local friends. I was wandering around downtown when I noticed that Thierry was still open, so...
