The animals that probably come to mind first when you think of Texas are the Longhorn steers or maybe the gators found in some of the state’s wetter regions. Maybe you are aware already that the state is a haven for birders, with hundreds of migratory species passing through. What may be more surprising, however, is that the state is also home to everything from aardvarks to zebras at its zoos and wildlife ranches. Don’t leave the state without saying hello to some of these curious locals.
