The Northern tip of the Great Basin Desert cradles the Okanagan wine region of British Columbia, Canada. Because it is located in a desert the climate is unique with very hot summers and mild winters. The terroir, perched along Okanagan Lake, can produce the finicky pinot noir and, during the winters, yield icewine. It's where Canadians go to get away. The Okanagan is British Columbia's wine region and is host to the Wine Bloggers' Conference 2013.
