If Puerto Ricans have one favorite pastime, it’s enjoying a good party. Many bars, and even some towns, have their own signature drinks—such as the piña colada (invented in San Juan) or Rincon's coconut rum drink pirata. Rum is produced on the island, and so is Puerto Rican beer (Medalla) as well as specialty fruit-infused rums and other liqueurs. But it's not all about booze: locals are proud of their coffee, coconut water, smoothies, and piraguas. You need to stay hydrated in the tropics so get your drink on in the local style.
