According to AFAR Ambassador @charissa_fay, “Just north of the financial district, Tribeca charms with old-world brick buildings and cobblestone streets. Small cafés and chic boutiques give it a true neighborhood feel and have made it popular with well-heeled creative and financial types, as well as young families. I recommend brunching at Smith and Mills, browsing at Nili Lotan for clothes and Edon Manor for shoes and accessories, and refueling with coffee at Maman before your next downtown adventures.”

One of @charissa_fay’s favorite additions to the cityscape is the High Line. “It’s the epitome of a modern urban park, built on an elevated former freight railway and stretching through the Meatpacking District and Chelsea. It’s a grand promenade for locals and tourists alike—the lushly landscaped route feels like a rooftop garden, offering up views of the Empire State Building, the Whitney Museum, and the Hudson River. You’ll also see the fascinating backsides of residential and commercial buildings; art installations; and food vendors for a snack break.”

    5. The Beauty of Rebuilding

AFAR Ambassador @charissa_fay notes, “The highlight of the brand-new World Trade Center Transportation Hub is the Oculus, a soaring, gleaming white public space that not only connects various subway lines but also includes luxury shopping and dining options that tempt even commuters to make a detour. With its striking design, courtesy of architect Santiago Calatrava, it’s also attracting plenty of architecture buffs, transportation geeks, and Instagrammers. Take the escalator to the mezzanine level for the best view. Afterward, I suggest grabbing a sunset drink at Pier A with views of the Statue of Liberty or at Brookfield Place overlooking the Northcove Marina.”

Jordan’s “lost city” of Petra is anything but lost these days. You can take a camel ride or horse-drawn carriage through this famous archeological site, but we’d recommend walking through the narrow paths and examining the beautiful pink sandstone up close.
