Zion National Park
No matter your understanding, or care, of the biblical connection after which the 16th National Park was named, it appropriately exudes an exotic aura about it. Established on 19 November 1919, Zion Canyon and the surrounding landscape feel like a natural temple. Imposing walls, some standing over 2,000 feet high, set the tone while unique formations in the sandstone such as arches and hoodoos shaped by water and wind provide stunning details in the landscape. Jump on the shuttle to venture up canyon hitting the side hikes along the way to the Narrows or break away from the crowds and and hit the backcountry trails for a more intimate experience. The more remote Northern section of the park, while a bit of haul to get there, is worth it if you want to escape the many crowds that make the main park their destination.
