Zinco Jazz Club
This chic space—which benefits from the style of the repurposed art deco bank building whose basement it occupies—maintains a reputation as one of the city’s premier (and few) spots to take in authentic jazz, with room on the program for just about everything from songbook stylings to hard-core fusion and, thankfully, plenty of Latin-music touches. The tight space, in shiny black with red accents, plus a bit of retro flair, goes great with the tunes and means there are no bad seats. The crowd is diverse—those who knew the music the first time around, hipsters still wet behind the ears, couples in high romantic date mode, and just plain fans; the music starts most nights around 10 p.m.
