Slipping from the top of the world
I almost didn't get this shot from near the top of one of the many domes surrounding Tenaya Lake in Yosemite National Park. The smooth granite did not grip my shoes and I was on my way down to a rapid deceleration on this free solo climb. Fortunately the rest of my flattened body held fast and I made it back down. But now whenever I think about this climb, or watch other people free solo, my palms sweat so badly. Next time I'll go with better shoes because as you'll see in the next post, the view from the top is spectacular.
