The Power of the Paddle
If you plan on bringing your own boat and motor to the park, you can launch at Yellowstone and Lewis Lakes; the rest of the park is generally reserved for non-motorized watercraft. Flying Pig Adventure Company can save you a seat on one of their 8- or 18-mile raft trips that take on some of the Yellowstone River’s best whitewater, while their Paddle & Saddle program combines the 8-mile whitewater trip with a 2-hour horseback ride. Lava Creek Adventures can toss you into a canoe or kayak and for self-guided adventure, or take you on an overnight adventure that lasts between two and eight nights. Exploring the uninhabited islands and 136 miles of shoreline around Yellowstone Lake is the perfect way to spend a week.
