I had no expectations when visiting this tower. All I knew was that it was old and that it was the symbol of the city of Wuhan.
It turned out only one of those facts were true.
The tower itself is only about 30 years old and is a recreation of the original tower that stood there hundreds of years ago. Nonetheless, it was beautiful!
In addition, there is more than just the tower; there are gardens, koi fish ponds, and rock sculptures to view and enjoy. Also, there are several smaller pagodas where one can see traditional Chinese art and live performances of music and dance. This is a great afternoon trip for someone who admires Chinese history and culture.
*Also, keep an eye out for the bamboo graffiti. I don't know why but there's something charmingly beautiful about the wishes that are carved into the bamboo stalks.
