Museo Xul Solar
The façade at this nondescript Palermo building hides floating cities, esoteric landscapes, and strange human-machine hybrids. It is painter, astrologer, musician, and language-inventor Xul Solar’s mystical world, the realm of an artist obsessed with improvement and change. It led him to create a new version of the piano and a new game of chess; he invented two universal languages he hoped would unify the human race. Once the artist’s home, the space was remodeled based on multileveled, multifaceted architectural details from Solar’s paintings; the collection holds most of the artist’s work.
