Travel Back West
The Tyler County Dogwood Festival spans three weekends each spring, but we recommend attending Western Weekend when over 2,000 riders descend upon Woodville on horseback and by wagon. The purpose of the trail rides is not only to preserve the heritage of the East Texas cowboy but to take in the landscape of the beautiful Piney Woods region. In addition to the trail rides, Western Weekend includes a downtown parade, a two-day open rodeo, a heritage village, the crowning of “Rodeo Sweethearts,” and a community dance. To get even more of the East Texas town’s frontier roots, stop by Heritage Village to see the original schoolhouse and demonstrations on pioneer living.
