Once a mansion owned by a young wealthy man whose life ended just weeks after its completion, this antebellum Greek Revival style beauty has been on my last-minute-to-do stops before I move from the Delta region. It's hard to believe that what was once likely a wondrous house survived the war only to end to a devastating fire by a single cigar (or so the story goes). The top of the house was used as an observatory by many - including Mark Twain. I shall now hunt down some old films where these ruins make an appearance because some places deserve another look.
