I didn't think they were allowed to speak. A silent, sweating, statue of British infantry, movable only for the Queen's sake. They marched like toy soldiers in their red jackets and furry black bearskin caps. Then this one stood perfectly still and eager members of the fascinated crowd sheepishly gathered in groups or dared solitary tourists to step near the human statue and pose for that coveted tourist photograph. I was one of those bold, blushing tourists. And as turned my head to stare my photographing friend straight in the lens, the statue spoke: "Big smiles." So, they speak after all but I am the only one in my group who knows this....I have only a picture, no audible proof! But I think my big smile says something, right?
